One Word From God Can Change Your Life Forever!

In just a few days, I’ll be celebrating my birthday, and I’m remembering what happened 41 years ago.

In 1983, a terrorist named Richard Snell attempted to kill me on my birthday.

On June 30th, I got a phone call from the police. They had apprehended Snell after he had killed two people. 

Among his possessions they found a piece of paper with my home address and unlisted phone number on it. 

I was his next target. 

The next couple of months after that happened, I noticed a spirit of fear coming on me. 

If somebody would drive up late at night in the driveway, or even if I heard the garbage truck, I would jump in fear.

I said to the Lord, “I can’t live in fear. I’m doing a great work for You, Lord.”

I decided to face my fears.

Most of the world’s terrorists at that time were in Lebanon, so I flew there. First, I visited Sidon. 

I had filled the trunk of my car that I had rented in Jerusalem, an embassy vehicle, with Bibles to give to the Marines because I was going to preach to them.

I preached to them on October 22, 1983. 

I remember one young Hispanic man from Worcester, Massachusetts. He said, “I can’t go home for Christmas. Would you please tell my mom that I have a Christmas present for her? I just accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior.” 

I videotaped a message for his mother. Neither one of us had any idea that was the last day of his life.

That night I slept on the beach. The Marines returned to their barracks.

Early in the morning I heard massive explosions. Two trucks filled with suicide bombers from Iran’s Hezbollah attacked the barracks of the first Battalion, eighth Marine Division and the second Marine Division.

They killed 220 Marines, 18 sailors, and three soldiers — making the incident the single most deadly military battle for the United States Marines since the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II.

The reason Richard Snell targeted me was because I had been working with Prime Minister Begin, had written a major book, Israel, America’s Key to Survival, and had hosted a major television special on the subject. 

I had gone to Israel a few years before in response to God’s direction and a Word He gave me from Isaiah 43:18 & 19. 

God did do a new thing. 

That one Word from God changed my life. 

It will do the same for you.

I was still relatively young when I made that first trip to Israel. And it is the people in the age group of 18-34 who are the battleground for the future of Israel. 

Support for the Jewish state and the Jewish people is still strong among those over 55. But it is declining rapidly among the young. Today’s young people are the leaders of tomorrow.

We have a mandate from God with Operation Bright Star to reach today’s young people. 

Today I’m asking you to help us carry out that mandate.

We are putting together an effort focused on the social media platforms where so many of them get all their news. We are directly confronting the lies being told about Israel. 

We are working to shape the next generation of defenders of Zion. But we can’t do it without your help.

The immediate needs for producing material, posting and boosting it, dealing with the challenges of technology with different platforms mean that we must raise $500,000 immediately.

And that is over and above what we continue to do to meet the urgent needs of suffering Jewish people in both Israel and Ukraine. 

The wars are raging, and we cannot stop doing all we can to help those who have lost and endured so much. 

The help that your love and generosity are providing is vital to thousands of people.

So today I’m asking you, not for a birthday present, but for a gift of love for the Lord as you reach out your arms toward His Chosen People to bless and defend them in this prophetic crisis moment. 

This is our “such a time as this,” and I’m praying that you will join hands with us and answer God’s call as we stand in the gap for Israel and the Jewish people together.
