Israel has faith in YOU
Dear Friend,
You are having a dramatic impact on the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in Israel…the families of those still being held hostage, as well as those who have been released.
These precious people are in desperate need right now.
Many of them are suffering from severe PTSD. Some have been left unable to work. Several have experienced massive weight loss—as much as 50% of their weight—because of the stress and being unable to eat. Many of them are suffering great financial hardship. Some of them are just broken emotionally to the point where they can hardly talk to their own family.
Sadly, at a time when they need help so desperately, they’ve had to also learn to be suspicious.
All too often those who offer to help do so not out of compassion, but because they have agendas of their own.
And that’s why what you are doing in Israel right now is so vitally important.
The hostage families know us. They love us because we have reached out to them with help in very difficult days.
And they trust us because we have proven together that we will be there when they need us most…like with our unique program for people dealing with PTSD.
When I was in Israel recently, I sat down with Omer Shem-Tov and his parents at your Friends of Zion Center in Jerusalem. This was not the first time his parents had been there. We hosted them at events to focus the attention of the world on the plight of the hostages like their son.
Omer was held in captive for 505 days after he was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists. He spent 450 of those days in solitary confinement in a tunnel under Gaza.
Many of those days, he had almost no food or water. Yet his faith never wavered. And he is so grateful for all the prayers that were offered on his behalf.
Before I tell you what he said, I have to tell you that hearing him sing Psalm 121 in Hebrew was one of the most emotional and powerful moments of my life. Truly incredible!
Omer told me, “From the moment I was kidnapped, I felt a shield God put me inside of. After I got to Gaza, I said to God, ‘Thank You that I am alive.’ The last day [in Gaza] I was sitting in the dark and crying. I was too weak to speak. Please just take me from here. Doesn’t have to be home…but not here. Ten minutes later the door opened. They took me out. I felt miracles the whole time. Thank you for having people pray for me. Every prayer has an answer! I felt every prayer. At the darkest point, there was a light. I am so grateful.”
When I looked at his parents, Malki and Shelley Shem-Tov, the joy on their faces at the return of their son was unmistakable.
Because of your generous help, I was able to tell them, “I was here with you in your pain. Now I get to share in the joy.”
You made that happen.
Your support of the Jerusalem Prayer Team let us minister to Omer’s family while he was in captivity for so long. You touched their lives in so many ways, providing what they needed most. They will never forget it.
That’s just one of the families we have helped. Another is the Siegel family. Both Keith and his wife Aviva were taken hostage by Hamas. Aviva was released after a few weeks, but Keith was held for 484 days. Aviva came to FOZ to tell her husband’s story, and we rejoiced with them when he finally came home.
And there are still so many other families who need our help.
You are not just being a witness to the nation of Israel, but to the whole world. Our videos focused on hostages and their families have been seen more than 50 million times all across the globe.
You made that happen.
But there are so many others who need us.
Your Friends of Zion Center is being flooded with calls for help. The warning sirens continue to sound as missile attacks are launched by Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and the Houthis…all Iranian terror proxies.
While I was in Israel, millions of people were forced into bomb shelters again and again because of these attacks.
The Israeli economy remains at the breaking point. The government has been forced to pour billions of shekels into defending the country. Thousands of businesses have seen their workers called to active duty, and some have had to close their doors. The tourism industry which is so vital to Israel has diminished to almost nothing.
There is nowhere else for hurting people to turn…except to us. And we MUST be there when they call for help.
In my spirit, I hear the ancient call of God: “Comfort ye My people.”
Today I am asking you to answer that call. I am asking you to see the need and do all that you can to help meet it. There are so many suffering Jewish people right now, and we are the ones God has positioned to help.

Dr. Mike Evans
