Iran has been in the news a lot lately. We’ve all seen the massive protests against the corrupt, demonic government of the radical “twelver” mullahs in charge of the country…and we’ve seen the deadly response of those leaders clinging to power by murdering thousands of their own people.

The Iranian people — Persians — are crying out for freedom. This is the greatest uprising since 1979.

Bible believers see it as a battle between principalities and powers. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers…against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12).

We see a similar battle that happened in Persia during Daniel’s day against a demonic spirit called the Prince of Persia. The book of Daniel in chapter 10 describes a demonic spiritual force opposing God’s purpose, a cosmic battle of spiritual warfare in which the archangel Michael the guardian angel of Israel battled the demonic forces. Everything that is happening today is part of that spiritual conflict, and we can trace its root back 50 years.

When I met Farah Pahlavi, the widow of the Shah of Iran at her home in Georgetown 26 years ago, she was holding a copy of my book Jimmy Carter, the Liberal Left and World Chaos. In that book, I documented President Jimmy Carter’s plan to overthrow the Shah of Iran.

She said, “It’s absolutely true what you’ve written. He came to Tehran on New Years 1977 and told the king, ‘You will release political prisoners, give freedom of press and freedom of religion, and you will allow Khomeini to come back. If you don’t, you will not get replacement parts for your helicopters and planes. I have the authority to do this under a human rights provision.’ When he left, my husband said, ‘If I agree the Russians will invade Afghanistan, Iraq will attack Iran, an Islamic Revolution will be birthed in our Iran and who knows what horror will come upon the earth.’ Carter believed that Khomeini would be great for human rights because he was a cleric and could become a Gandhi-like figure.

The day before that meeting, I met General Robert Huyser former Deputy Commander in Chief of the European command and Jimmy Carter’s special emissary to Iran in his home. He told me he was sent to Tehran to foment a military coup. Huyser’s job was to inform the generals of Iran that Carter was in favor of democracy in Iran and to persuade the military heads to remain in Iran and work for the U.S. and that the U.S. would protect them.

With tears running down his face, Huyser told me, “They all died because of me; they could’ve saved the country from the revolution, but I would not let them. They died believing in us. Of the 80 top generals, more than 70 were tortured and executed along with hundreds of low-ranking officers…over 75% of the senior officers were killed.”

I had flown to France and met with President Valery Giscard d’Estaing, and he told me something similar. He said President Carter called for a meeting on the French Island of Guadalupe in the Caribbean with him and the leaders of Britain, France, and West Germany. The United States had decided to not support the regime of the Shah and was working to overthrow him. At the conclusion of the meeting, d’Estaing told me he knew, “Carter had abandoned an ally.”

Khomeini became the VIP darling of the western media. France had become a command center for the launch of the Islamic revolution. Khomeini gave over 100 media interviews in his four-month stay in Neauphle-le-Chateau France and hosted over 1,000 Iranian visitors a day. Two of Khomeini’s visitors were Farouk Kaddoumi, PLO department head and Libyan representative of Muammar al-Qaddafi. His compound was surrounded by representatives of covert agencies, the CIA, British MI-6, Russian KGB, and French intelligence organization SDECE. Funds were being sent secretly from America to Khomeini to help him overthrow the Shah.

To my knowledge, I have written more books on Iran than anyone else in America. I’ve interviewed leaders like the former president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He told me himself that Iran is going to usher in the return of the “twelfth mahdi,” the Islamic version of the Messiah, and that they would do it through an apocalypse on the “little Satan,” Israel.

Though Ahmadinejad is now gone from power, today’s rulers of Iran are just as committed to their evil goal of destroying Israel. Their plan calls for an attack on Israel that will kill at least a million Jewish people. This is not rhetoric or empty words; they mean it because it is a central part of their theology.

I was in Israel during the war when Iran fired more than 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. I was actually on the highway at night, watching fireballs go over my head as these missiles — the size of a semi-truck — flew overhead. I can assure you that the next attacks will be much larger.

Iran will fire 400 or 600 missiles at a time to try to overwhelm Israel’s defenses and kill as many Jews as possible. Israel needs America’s support in dealing with Iran, similar to the support the U.S. gave when President Trump sent the B-2 bombers to attack Iran’s nuclear sites and also authorized the use of missile defenses to help Israel shoot down Iranian missiles, saving many Jewish lives.

This is not just a physical threat. There is a battle taking place right now in the spirit realm that is very similar to the battle Esther faced long ago as she stood courageously to appeal for the survival of her people. We’ll celebrate that courage very soon with the start of Purim on March 2nd. And today I’m asking you to take a stand just as she did.

First, I’m asking you to add your name to the petition to President Trump letting him know that you support the desire of the Persian people for freedom, and that you support the people of Israel who are in the cross hairs of a demonic attack. It is vital that he hear from us because there are many people urging him to not respond. I can get your voice to him at a time when he really needs to hear from us.

President Trump posted this message: “Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!!… HELP IS ON ITS WAY.” Yet he is also under enormous pressure from people like Tucker Carson who is saying, “don’t do anything in Iran.” One more strategic, surgical attack could end the regime’s rule and save the lives of tens of thousands or even millions.
