Together, We Can Answer God’s Call

Dear Friend,

I woke up very early this morning with a question burning into my heart and soul and spirit and mind: What about the families on the next street?

The Rauch Ha’Kodesh, the Holy Spirit of God, directed me to ask you that question as well: What about the families on the next street?

That may seem like a strange question to you, but let me explain where it comes from. During three separate rounds of direct fighting in which Iran attacked Israel dozens of times, thousands of Israeli families were left homeless. Thousands were injured, and dozens were killed.

I was in Israel during those attacks. I went to the hospitals and wept with families. I went to funerals to mourn those who had been killed by demonic Jew-haters. I went to the bomb shelters and prayed with the people huddled there. They kept saying things like, “It’s a miracle we’re alive.”

I’ll never forget inviting one of those families to a special event at your Friends of Zion Center. The mother told me, “We can’t come. All we have is our pajamas. Everything we own—clothes, furniture, cars—was destroyed.” 

Of course, we bought clothes for the whole family so they could come.

And thanks to friends like you, we did everything we possibly could to help.

I remember so well the precious family who buried the husband and father on the day their teenage son was supposed to have his bar mitzvah. They were one of three families on a single street, all neighbors, who had their homes demolished by Iranian missiles.

We did help them. We helped them get food and clothing. We helped them find a place to stay. We helped them with their medical bills. 

It was a powerful witness of Christian love in action…something they—like many Jewish people—had never seen before.

I’m so thankful that Friends of Zion was there to help them. 

But there’s a problem, and that’s what drives the question I asked you at the beginning of this letter.

We helped that family and their neighbors. But there are thousands more. There are families just one street over who still need help.

You see, just because the rockets stop falling and the sirens stop wailing, the damage doesn’t go away. 

Iran hasn’t hit Israel in months, but the precious men, women, and children who were bereaved, injured, or left homeless are still suffering every single day.

More than 1.5 million Jews came to Israel from Russia and Ukraine. Many of them brought everything they owned in a single suitcase. Most of them are elderly now, including some who are Holocaust survivors. They have no one to help care for them and are living in desperate poverty.

Your gift of $30 can help provide one meal every day for a week for one of these precious needy people. Your gift of $90 can help provide three meals a day for a full week.

I can hear the voice of Jesus saying, “What you did for the least of these you did for Me.” 

You can be the answer to their prayers right now.

The government simply doesn’t have the resources to meet all of these needs. The cost of defending Israel is staggering. And at the same time, the collapse of tourism over three years and the impact of the BDS economic warfare on Israel have combined to create a massive financial crisis.

And so many people are falling through the cracks.

Friends of Zion has been on the front lines since even before the war started, showing true Christian love in action to suffering Jewish people. We’ve been trying to help everyone we can, but we simply need to do more.

But of course, we can’t do that unless we have the resources. 

So I am praying that you will respond to the voice of God, “Comfort ye, comfort ye My people” and be the answer to the question: What about the families on the next street?

Please don’t set this matter aside for later. I’m asking you to stop right now and ask God what you should do to help meet these urgent needs. I want to tell our teams on the ground in Israel that they can go to the people on the next street and offer help, but I can’t do that unless you say “Yes.”

This is a prophetic crossroads moment, and we must act before it is too late. Thank you in advance for your generous response.
