Let’s make October 7 a powerful day of spiritual warfare for Israel

We are now just a few days from the third anniversary of the deadly October 7, 2023, invasion of Israel by Hamas forces who were armed trained and equipped by Iran. 

It was the deadliest single day for Jewish people since the end of the Holocaust.

Although so much time has passed, the impact on Israel is still being felt every single day. And because of a successful global campaign against Israel, much of the world, sadly including much of America, is blaming Israel for defending itself after being attacked. 

They’re blaming the victim, and it is disgusting!

We must not forget the truth. The Hamas attack was codenamed the Al-Aqsa Flood for the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount. 

The 3,000-plus Hamas terrorists were predominantly trained in Iran for the attack. They were funded by Iran. They were promised $10,000 for killing Jews and a new house if they brought back Jewish hostages. They recorded the events on video so they could collect their money and torment the Jewish people with the videos.

The rockets and drones and tanks and missiles and guns make the news, but the real battle — the battle Israel cannot win — is the spiritual battle. 

This is nothing new. 

There is a demonic spirit that has been active since the days of Persia in what is now Iran.

Daniel received an angel with a message after three weeks of prayer and fasting. This demonic power kept Daniel’s answer from being delivered until the archangel Michael joined the conflict in response to Daniel’s prayers.

“But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia” (Daniel 10:13).

This is why Friends of Zion is so vital. 

Demons don’t clear customs. Missile defense systems can’t stop spiritual attacks. 

Today you and I are fighting a continuation of the same battle Daniel fought thousands of years ago against the Prince of Persia…and we must be faithful in our prayers just as Daniel was.

We’re about to host what could be the largest prayer meeting in the history of the world. 

On October 7, we will gather millions of Believers together from around the globe to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

This unprecedented event will be hosted at the Kotel, the Western Wall, in Jerusalem. I will be in Israel once again as your voice of hope to a nation surrounded by enemies.

But I’m asking you to step forward in another way as well. One of the things that has distinguished Friends of Zion is the way we put feet to our prayers. 

And there are suffering people in Israel as you read this today who are desperately praying for someone to help them. 

Even though almost three years have passed, the pain remains. For some of them, it is a physical pain from the injuries they suffered in terrorist attacks or missile barrages or the torture they endured while in captivity.

For others, the injuries are invisible outwardly. But pain in the heart is just as real as pain in the body.

There are thousands still grieving the loss of a loved one. There are tens of thousands who struggle to sleep because their subconscious is waiting for the warning sirens to sound again.

There is so much that needs to be done, but the only way Friends of Zion can respond to meet these urgent needs, both seen and unseen, is with the help of friends like you.

In every Israeli Air Force barracks, there is a picture the pilots have to pass before leaving. 

The picture is of Israeli planes over Auschwitz and the railroad tracks with the words:

“We the Israeli Air Force pilots fly in the skies over the camp of atrocities. But we’ve risen from the ashes of the millions of victims, and we carry their silent cry. We salute their courage and pledge to serve as the defenders of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.”

Tomer Bar, the Brigadier General who hosted me at his air base gave me a copy of that picture, and on it he wrote: “The voice of the thunder was in the heaven. The earth trembled and shook,” from Psalm 77:18. 

I have that picture on the wall of my office as I am writing this letter to you.

The IDF defends Israel from military threats. It is up to you and me to defend them from the principalities and powers attacking them.
